For this activity, we worked with warm and cool colors. We were asked to choose an animal we might see on an African Safari so I chose an alligator. We drew our animal on a white piece of paper with a light blue colored pencil because it is a cool color. Then, we were told to use warm colors to draw shapes and patterns over the animal to conceal it to the naked eye. After the drawings were complete, we put on our special glasses that used red red transparent paper and we were able to see our animals on the paper! When we were finished, we wrote down three clues on a note card as to what our animal may be.
For an extension activity, a teacher could use the same concept but relate it to any subject. One example would be to ask students to conceal a math equation under the warm colors. The pictures could be hung up around the room and students would have to go around with their glasses on and do the problems that their classmates came up with.
